Freshway Market on West Roosevelt Road in Chicago is clearing out the whole store, from a Caterpillar standby generator and two Hillphoenix compressor racks to the walk-ins, refrigerated cases, checklanes, and shelving. The generator is a low-hour Caterpillar 3412 diesel in a weatherproof enclosure with its own base tank, the kind of standby unit that rarely comes out of a grocery store.
The racks sit in the rooftop compressor house, each built around Copeland compressors, with Bohn and Heatcraft condensers on the roof beside them. Eliason built the walk-ins, including a large freezer, a large cooler, and a walk-in dairy cooler with glass display doors, and a Hillphoenix walk-in combo adds two more coolers. Out front, Hillphoenix multi-deck cases line the dairy, meat, and produce aisles, with frozen food door runs, low-temp islands, a curved glass deli case, and a seafood case.
The front end has five Borroughs checklanes and more than 1,000 feet of Madix gondola shelving. Nearly 40 Hobart scales come from the deli and meat counters, along with a Hobart wrapper, a Hatco hot food counter, and a Z-Vent hood with Ansul suppression. A Crown walkie stacker and pallet jack, two PTR balers, safes, and office furniture round out the back of the store. Bidding begins closing Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 10:00 a.m. Central, one lot at a time.
